First off, most important: I have to have a happy ending. All else is negotiable, but I like to squee and sigh happily at the end of a fic. I can appreciate a poignant ending, but I would prefer not to.
I like cliches, including:
things which trigger embarrassment squicks. Also no death-fic, unless it's going to turn into a vampire or ghost type fic.
Oh, and I really like kiss scenes. A beautifully written, toe-curling kiss can be better than the best ten-page sex scene.
How I Met Your Mother
I really enjoy the characters in this fandom, and would particularly love:
1. Barney/Robin. The show is jerking me around but I refuse to believe anything but that they end up together and are epically awesome. So, so awesome.
2. Lily/Marshall. They're just completely adorbs <333
3. Bros! Ted and Marshall, Ted and Marshall and Barney, Barney and Robin, all of them. It's all good.
4. Orgy fic. If that's the way you want to swing it, there's a lot of scope here....
When watching the show I particularly enjoy the "how we all met" episodes, so if you have something along those lines, that would be fun.
I really just got into this show this year. I powered through the first six seasons, what we have of the seventh, and now I'm having to WAIT for new episodes. I think pretty much all the characters are awesome (except Ted - is he anyone's favourite??)
Laurie R. King - Mary Russell series
This is one of my favourite series. The Beekeeper's Apprentice is possibly one of my most re-read books. Mary is just one of my all-time top heroines, and I love her relationship with Holmes.
Unfortunately, I've felt the last few novels are lacking something. (Pirate King was lacking...a lot.) I've missed seeing Mary and Sherlock as a TEAM. They're married! They should be awesome together! Instead, in the last few novels there's been a lot of them working separately.
I'd love to see a fic with them playing off each other, making the best use of their respective skills. Alternatively, a wee domestic scene - not saccharine, but something that shows what life's like if they get some time at home.
A day-in-the-life fic would be fun, or one through the eyes of who doesn't know Mary and Sherlock.
If you want to do just Mary by herself, I wouldn't mind a fic set when she's a teenager or at university - investigating things all by her self.
Tamora Pierce
I chose Protector of the Small as the fandom here because it's the series I most recently re-read, but I would be happy with anything from Provost's Dog days through to Trickster days.
Keladry is probably my favourite character here, so if you want to spend some time inside her head, that would be lovely. I also have a soft spot for Tobe and something from his point of view a few years down the line could be really interesting.
This is also a universe in which I rather enjoy the odd Mary Sue kind of thing. So, if you have an original character you wanted to set free, I'm totally down with that as well!
As always, ridiculous tropes or day-in-the-life kind of stories are super fun.

- Sentience of a previously inanimate object (like Atlantis, the Metallicar...)
- Clones/duplicates/selves from an alternate reality
- with whom they have sex
- Fic from the POV of an outside character (not a MarySue and becoming involved with the characters, but someone from whose perspective it's really interesting to see the characters we're used to.)
- PUPPIES
- etc etc.
