- types fast. And knows exactly what speed it is because you occasionally do typing tests just for fun.
- knows the alphabet inside and out, backwards and upside down (because that's how you sorted the filing! It seemed like a good idea at the time and now it's easier to just read upside down instead of losing your place in the filing cabinet.)
- and speaking of filing cabinets, knows how to shove them with your hip when the lock isn't aligned properly inside and the drawers won't open.
- has a Telephone Voice and knows how to use it like a weapon.
- has felt the pride of a Job Well Done when looking at a neatly organised and well-stocked stationary cupboard.
- can write an email, take down a phone message and flag down the courier at the same time.
- takes minutes. And can still read them the next day.
- can do a mail merge
- can clear a paper jam
- can stuff envelopes with flair
- knows how to play multiple calendars in Outlook like a finely tuned instrument
- knows where the files are kept....no, the other ones! In in the blue file?...You know!
- to whom the finer points of tabs, tables and margins in Word are not a mystery. (But not Visual Basic, forms and macros, because at this point I have HIT THE WALL in my knowledge of Word and it is no longer my bitch. :-(
- keeps the Good Stationary in their desk drawer so it doesn't disappear
- has broken a nail, cut themselves with scissors and knows the pain of papercuts
- has rolled their eyes at the quote of the day on the desk calendar (Think like a man of action and act like a man of thought?!?!?!)
