laputain and I are going to a "Dress as your favourite era!" party tonight.

I, having already done the Classical Greek thing, and the Medieval thing, decided that I wanted to do something with awesome fun make up.

The 80s, obv!

So, I was tossing up between electro/new romantic kind of thing, or punk. (Gothy punk, rather than grunge punk, if that makes sense.)

Punk won, because it is more about makeup and hair and Doc Marten boots rather than the rest of the outfit I would need to put together for electro. (I have black clothes! I...don't have electro clothes!)

So, I have:
black nail polish
black and silver eyeliner
grey and black eye shadow
black lipstick
a black dog collar
a silver chain as can be worn on one's belt or on one's wrist
old fishnet stockings long ago turned into fingerless gloves
a banana clip with which I can turn my hair into a faux-hawk
a large number of safety pins to put into my large number of piercings

And I thought and thought and ventured, "The Clash?"

"...and?"

"Were Joy Division kind of punk?"

"Post-punk. Any others?"

"Sex Pistols!"

And that is IT. I can not name ANY other punk bands. Or if I can name them, I couldn't tell you what their songs are. OOPS. Possibly, I should have gone for generic 80s pop/rock! I would be excellent at that! I could even carry off full blown goth, after hanging out with [info]laputain for nigh on seven years and absorbing such things by osmosis. But punk itself...?
