Does this mean I'm a grown-up now?
Dec. 21st, 2009 09:39 pmHOLY (conditional) HOUSE PURCHASE, BATMAN.
Conditional offer accepted this evening, assuming my finance goes through (don't anticipate any problems) and the builder's report doesn't show that the place is about to fall down or burst into faulty-wiring flames, by late January I will be moved into an adorable little Avondale cottage of my VERY OWN*.
(Well, half my own, half my parents'. Which also means half the mortgage, THANK FUCK.)
Soooo....anyone looking for a room to rent?

Date: 2009-12-21 06:50 pm (UTC)-tell the solicitor, who drew up the sale and purchase agreement including the conditions we wanted (ie. finance, building inspection etc.)
-Mum and Dad and I all signed this, and it was faxed to the agent, who presented it to the vendor. (Who rejected it - at this stage they can counter offer etc.)
-We raised our offer, which just meant crossing out the first number on the coversheet of the sale and purchase agreement and writing in the new one, and initialing the change
-the agent presented this to the vendor. I got a phonecall to say "You have a house!"
Now I think there is more paperwork and the deposit has to be lodged with the lawyers and settlement dates and unconditional dates and stuff worked out. Dad's dealing with the lawyers mainly, and I'm just agreeing. Which makes me feel even more faintly ridiculous - my parents are buying half the house and I'm not even fully involved with the nitty gritty of the purchase! - but it's also more confusing than I ever realised, even down to learning the terminology. I guess if I'd been doing this process for longer I'd understand it better, but right now, if Daddy wants to talk to the lawyer? That's fine by me!

I'm at the stage I was when I was 18! I'm living in a ROOM, I'm a poor student, and my goddamn boyfriend doesn't want to move and get a place of our own, and people I know are getting married/having kids/buying houses.
FUCK.
